About the Work.

Valerie Marchand’s soft and dreamy mixed media work often draws on memories and family history drawing content from old family photographs.  Attention is moved away from the physical object and is meant to be considered beyond its actuality. The ambiguity of the imagery presents a breadth of interpretation.  Colour is important but is very rarely used as narrative, but as symbolic or to convey a feeling.
